Description
Letter addressed "To the worshipful and reverend my very lovinge brethren of the Chapter in the Close at Salisbury", and signed "Your Loving brother, J Gordon" from London, 29 December 1609.
After a salutation in Latin ("Carissimi in Cristo fratres") the Dean says that "since I settled my self at my new habitation I more happily enjoy" the benefit of health "than I have done at this time of the yeare in a long season".
The Dean has received leases from a ["Mr Chantlor"?] or possibly from the Chanter, and from a Mr Blacker who "both desire to renew the Leases of there (sic) houses whereunto I willingly yeeld my consent referring the whole estate of that matter unto you and whatsoever you in your wisdoms shall determine of it".
