Description
A letter signed by James I, "Given under the Signet at the Pallace of Westminster", 6 May 1618.
John Moseley, Doctor of Divinity, has been recommended by a petition from the City and by the Lord Privy Seal (Edward Somerset, 3rd Earl of Worcester, c1550-1628). The King requires the Dean and Chapter to admit John Moseley "into the number of actuall residentiaries . . . to partake of all . . . profitts and priviledges".
The mandate ordering John Moselely's installation to a canonry and the prebend of Wilsford and Woodford, dated 1 Nov 1616, is at PR/WW/3. Presumably this was not a residentiary canonry.
"Ex J Kirkham" is written in a later hand in the lower right-hand corner on the face of the document.
