Writing from Gray's Inn, Thomas Proctor says that he has various debts amounting to £850. His brother, Samuel Proctor, Prebendary of Teynton Regis (1589-1639), has assigned to him the rents of the prebend, but he has learned that "there is som charge against itt for the fabricke of the Church"; "his neglect of it hath bene such as he standes in danger of excommunication. The burden will lye upon me, and the tenant I see will not discharge itt thoughe his covenantes tye him therunto". He asks the Dean (John Bowle, Dean 1620-1630) to allow him to defer payment.
