Description

Letter signed by Charles II "at our Court at Whitehall", "To Our Trusty & Welbeloved the Deane and Chapter of Our Cathedrall Church of Sarum". "Whereas humble suit hath been made unto Us that Wee would recommend John Fielding . . . unto you, to be chosen into a Canon Residentiary's place . . . We do . . . hereby in particular manner recommend the said John Fielding unto you, to be chosen into the next Canon Residentiary's place that shall become voyd". Rev. The Hon. John Feilding (1650-1698) was the fourth son of George Feilding, 1st Earl of Desmond. He was a Fellow of Queen's College, a Canon Residentiary (1680-1698), and a Chaplain to William III.
