Description
This enfranshisement concerns land and property in the village of Worton previously belonging to the Manor of Potterne. The indenture was made 4 day of February 1858 between Bishop Walter Kerr Hamilton 'in right of his See Lord of the manor', the Church Estates Commissioners (Rt Hon Henry Thomas Earl of Chichester, Sir John George Shaw Lefevre and the Rt Hon Spencer Horatio Walpole MP), and James Few of Worton, Wiltshire. A plan forms part of the document. The indenture confirms the conversion of copyhold land to freehold land in the ownership of James Few and his heirs.
Other individuals named in the document are: Sarah Boltor, John Sainsbury, Thomas Potter, Edward Horton, Edward John Horton, Robert Horton, John Shorter, James Glass, and Hezekiah Goodall.
