Description
Indenture of agreement between the Dean and Chapter on the one part and John Farrant of the Close on the other part that he would from time to time furnish the choir in convenient order and time in singing and playing the organ, would furnish the choir with eight choristers with good voices, teach them in the art and science of music, and give them food, lodging and other necessaries. In consideration of the above the Dean and Chapter would grant to John Farrant the choristers' house (mansion house), and other buildings and grounds, and herbage elsewhere, and would pay him annually £45, 11 shillings. He would also hold the office of organ player. There is an inventory attached of goods belonging to the choristers' house.
