Description
Indenture between Thomas Hyde Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and James Harward of New Sarum Mercer of the other part. The said Thomas Hyde and the Dean and Chapter grant to the said James Harward their tenement with the appurtenances late in the tenure of James Harward being in New Sarum, between the lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter now or late in the tenure of James Harward on the east part, the lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter now or late in the occupation of James Harward on the west part, the lands belonging to the Bishop of Sarum called the Guildhall on the south part and the yarn marketplace on the north part. Also a kitchen or little room with the appurtenances belonging to the said tenement now or late in the tenure of George Lane Weaver abutting upon the prison called the Grate on the east part, the lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter now or late in the tenure of Richard Checkford on the west part, the Guildhall on the south part and the yarn marketplace on the north part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was 40s for the tenement and 6s, 8d for the kitchen to be paid at the four usual feasts of the year in equal portions.
