Description

Counterpart of indenture made between the Reverend Nathanael [Nathaniel] Hume Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and Daniel Mayo Keele of New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire gentleman of the other part. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Daniel Mayo Keele their corner tenement or tenements and kitchen and also their other tenement with the appurtenances formerly in the tenure of Andrew Baden and now in the tenure of Daniel Mayo Keele in New Sarum, the marketplace there where wool and yarn be sold being on the north part, lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the occupation of Lake, John Thresher, Francis Richardson and Knight on the south part, the Guildhall of the Bishop and certain lands of the Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of Daniel Keele with the city prison called the Grate and with the common stream or watercourse there on the east part and the King's highway leading out of the Great Marketplace into Fish Row and Butcher Row on the west part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was £5, 14s, 8d to be paid at the four usual feast of the year in equal portions. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of Jo[shua] Hillary. Renewable 21 Nov 1797.
