Description
[Counterpart] of the above (CO/CH/5/1/26/3; without additional sheet). Indenture made between James Proctor Canon Residentiary and Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and John Graye [Grey] of the City of New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire Surgeon of the other part. The said James Proctor and the Dean and Chapter grant to John Grey their tenement with the appurtenances where John Grey lives being in the city of New Sarum between the lands belonging to James Proctor and the Dean and Chapter now in the occupation of Thomas Marshall Haberdasher on the west part, the lands belonging to the Bishop of Salisbury called the [Guildhall] ('guyld hall') on the south part, and the yarn marketplace on the north part. Also a kitchen with the appurtenances now in the occupation of John Grey abbutting upon the prison called the Grate on the east part, the lands belonging to James Proctor and the Dean and Chapter in the tenure of John Luxmore on the west part, the Guildhall on the south part, and the yarn marketplace on the north part. To have and to hold the tenement and kitchen for 61 years. The annual rent was for the tenement 26s, 8p, and for the kitchen 4s at the four usual terms of the year.
