Description
Indenture made between Richard Chandler Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and Thomas Marshall of New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire Haberdasher of the other part. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter grant unto Thomas Marshall their corner tenement or tenements with the appurtenances where Thomas Marshall now lives being within New Sarum near the Marketplace where wool and yarn are sold on the north part, the lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of Margaret Wescott widow and William Brothertone on the south part, the lands belonging to the Bishop of Salisbury called the yelde hall [Guildhall] and the lands of the Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of John Grey and John Luxmore with the common stream or watercourse there on the east part and the Queen's highway leading out and from the wood market into Fish Row and Butcher ('bocher') Row on the west part. To have and to hold for 99 years. The annual rent was £3, 8s at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions. Endorsed 'Choristers land.'
