Description
[Counterpart of CO/CH/5/1/26/11]. Indenture between Thomas Hyde Canon Residentiary and Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and James Harward of New Sarum Mercer of the other part. The said Thomas Hyde and the Dean and Chapter grant to the said James Harwood [Harward] their corner tenement or tenements with the appurtenances where James Harward lives in New Sarum, with the marketplace where wool and yarn are sold on the north part, the lands belonging to the said Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of Henry Ha[nn]am and Christopher Ba[tt] on the south part, the lands belonging to the Bishop of Salisbury called the Guildhall and the lands of the said Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenures of James Harward and Christopher Ewer with the common stream or watercourse there on the east part and the King's highway leading out and from the wood market into Fish Row and Butcher Row on the west part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was £3, 8s at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions. Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of John Johnson, Andrew Baden and Christopher London.
