Description
Indenture made between Thomas Benet [Bennet] Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers ('queresters') and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and Thomas Westcott of New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire Fishmonger and Margaret his wife of the other part. The said Thomas Bennet and the Dean and Chapter grant to the said Thomas and Margaret Westcott their corner tenement sometimes two tenements with the appurtenances where the said Thomas Westcott lives in New Sarum in a street called the Fysshe rewe [Fish Row] between the lands belonging to the Bishop called the Guylde hall [Guildhall], with the lands belonging to the said Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of Alys Marshall widow on the north part, the King's highway leading out and from the wood market into Fish Row on the west part, the lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of Thomas Bely [Belley] on the east part and the King's highway leading from the Pultrey Crosse [Poultry Cross] through Bocherrewe [Butcher Row] and Fish Row on the south part. To have and to hold for 51 years. The annual rent was £4 at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions.
