Description
Indenture made between Edward Thornburgh [Thornborough] Canon Residentiary and Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter on the one part, and Bennett Eastman of New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire Cutler of the other part. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Bennett Eastman their corner tenement where the said Bennett Eastman lives in New Sarum in the street there commonly called the Fishrowe [Fish Row], abutting upon the lands of the said Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of Richard Bowden shoemaker on the west part, the entry of the tenement of Richard Checkford gent being the lands of the Warden and Dean and Chapter on the north part and the King's highway on the east and south parts with all the appurtenances. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was [26s 8d] to be paid at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions. Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of Thomas Shuter and Henry Whitmarsh. There is a note on the back: 'To John of Sarum Linener Percevall for 40 yeres deliveringe up this old lease.'
