Description
Indenture made between Thomas Hyde Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and Christopher Batt of New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire gent of the other part. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Christopher Batt their tenement with the appurtenances sometimes in the tenure of William Brotherton and also their other tenement sometimes two tenements then in the tenure of William Brotherton and since demised unto John Batt now to be surrendered which said tenements now made three tenements and now in the tenure of Christopher Batt in New Sarum in a street there called the Fisherrowe [Fish Row], between the lands of the Warden and Dean and Chapter late in the tenure of Bennet [Bennett] Eastman and now in the tenure of Richard Hillary on the east part, and the lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter late in the tenure of Thomas Belly [Belley] gent and now in the tenure of Henry Hamond [Hammond] on the west part, the lands of the Bishop called the Guildhall on the north part, and the King's highway on the south part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was £4 13s 4d to be paid at the four usual feasts of the year in equal portions. Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of John Johnson and [Wa] Johnson.
