Description
Counterpart of the above (CO/CH/5/1/27/7). Indenture made between William Soutche [Souch] Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part, and Walter Bellie [Belley] of New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire Butcher of the other part. The said William Souch and the Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Walter Belley their corner tenement sometimes two tenements with the appurtenances where William Brotherton the Younger and Lawrence Gold fishmongers and Christopher Willis pewterer live in New Sarum in a street there called the Fishe rew [Fish Row] between the lands belonging unto the Bishop called the guylehaul [Guildhall], with the lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of James Harwood mercer on the north part, the King's highway leading out and from the wood market into Fish Row on the west part, the lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of William Brotherton the elder on the east part, and the King's highway leading from Poultry Cross through Butcher Row and Fish Row on the south part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was £4 at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions. Signed, sealed and delivered by the Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers to the use of Walter Belley in the presence of Richard Lyme, John S[huter] and Thomas Shuter.
