Description
Indenture made between William Soutche [Souch] Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part, and William Brotherton the Elder of New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire Fishmonger. The said William Souch and Dean and Chapter grant to the said William Brotherton the Elder their tenement with the appurtenances sometime in the tenure of Thomas Belley to him demised and let by James Proctor Canon Residentiary Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter, and also their other tenement sometimes two tenements with the appurtenances sometime in the tenure of William Lover of New Sarum fishmonger to him demised and let by Thomas Bennet Canon Residentiary Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter, wherein respectively the said William Brotherton the Elder now dwells in New Sarum in a street there called Fish Row between the lands of the Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of Roger Luxmore keeper of the guildhaul [Guildhall] on the east part, the lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter now in the tenure of Walter Belly [Belley] butcher on the west part, the lands of the Bishop called the Guildhall on the north part and the King's highway on the south part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was £4 13s 4d, that is to say 53s 4d for the tenement and appurtenances formerly granted to William Lover and 40s for the tenement granted unto Thomas Belley, to be paid at the four usual feasts of the year in equal portions. Signed, sealed and delivered by the Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers to the use of William Brotherton in the presence of Richard Lyme, John Shuter and Thomas Shuter.
