Description

The writing is faded and obscured. Indenture made between Edward Thornborough Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and Thomas Belley of New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire gent of the other part. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter grant to the said Thomas Belley their corner tenement sometimes two tenements with the appurtenances [now] in the tenures of William Brotherton the Younger, [Christopher] Willis and Lawrence Gold all of them now deceased and now or late in the tenures of William [?Frowde], William Rawling[son] and James Gold being in New Sarum in a certain street or place there called the Fish Row between the Guildhall of the Bishop as in right of his Bishopric and the lands of the Warden and the Dean and Chapter now or late in the tenure of Richard Checkford gent on the north part, the King's highway leading out and from the wood market into Fish Row on the west part, the lands belonging to the Warden and Dean and Chapter now or late in the tenure of [Mrs] Brotherton widow on the east part and the said street called Fish Row on the south part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was £4 4s to be paid at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions.
