Description
There is a large tear down the middle of the document which makes the text difficult to read in places. Indenture made between William Souch Canon Residentiary and Master or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part, and John Browne Servant of Henry Bishop of Salisbury of the other part. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said John Browne their tenement and garden where John Anderson lately lived in New Sarum in a street there called Tanners Street and abutting upon the lands belonging to the King in the occupation of William Sell[ing]e on the east part, the lands of Charles Jacobbe on the west part, the lands of Mr Matthew Bee commonly called the 'gray fryers' on the south part and the highway on the north part. To have and to hold with the appurtenances for 40 years. The annual rent was 13s 4d to be paid at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions. Signed by John Gordon Dean of Salisbury, William Souch and others. There is a note on the back by Edmund Mason Dean of Salisbury re the renewal of the lease.
