Description
Counterpart of indenture made between the honourable and reverend Robert Sherrard Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and James Bartlett of New Sarum in the County of Wiltshire Esquire of the other part. The said Robert Sherrard and the Dean and Chapter grant unto the said James Bartlett their tenement and garden belonging to it in New Sarum in a street there called Tanner[s] Street now in the tenure of James Bartlett, Uriah Hunt and Young spinster containing in breadth on the north and south sides 36ft and in length on the east and west sides 176.5 ft abutting upon the lands formerly of John Batton late of Bristow sometime called the Fox and Goose on the east part, the lands late of Mr Theophilus Dyer and now in the tenure of James Bartlett on the west part, the lands of Richard Jervaise commonly called the 'Gray Fryers' on the south part and the said street or King's highway on the north part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was 20s at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions. Sealed and delivered by the within named Robert Sherrard being first stamped in the presence of [James] Carter and Thomas Frome. Sealed and delivered in the presence of Thomas Hall and Thomas Spratt.
