Description
Counterpart of indenture made between the reverend Nathanael [Nathaniel] Hume Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part, and Walter Young of New Sarum Gentleman Devisee named in the last will and testament of James Bartlett late deceased of the other part. The said Nathaniel Hume and the Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Walter Young their tenement and garden belonging to it in New Sarum in a street there called Tanners Street late in the tenure of the said James Bartlett, Uriah Hunt and Elizabeth Young spinster and now of Edward Baker, John Swayne, Sarah Pitman and Ann White widow containing in breadth on the north and south sides 36ft and in length on the east and west sides 176.5 ft abutting upon the lands formerly of John Batten late of Bristow sometime called the Fox and Goose on the east part, the lands late of Mr Theophilus Dyer late in the tenure of James Bartlett and now of Walter Young or his tenant on the west part, the lands late of Richard Jervoise [Jervaise] esquire commonly called the 'Gray Fryers' on the south part and the said street or King's highway on the north part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was 20s at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of Jos[eph] Elderton and Thomas Chubb. There are pencil annotations on the document updating the names.
