Description

Indenture made between the reverend Charles Moss Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and George Young of New Sarum Gentleman son and executor named in the last will and testament of Walter Young late deceased of the other part. The said Charles Moss and the Dean and Chapter grant unto the said George Young their tenement and garden belonging to it in New Sarum in a street there called Tanners Street formerly in the tenure of James Bartlett, Uriah Hunt and Elizabeth Young spinster and now of Edward Baker esquire and the widow Philips containing in breadth on the north and south sides 36ft and in length on the east and west sides 176.5ft abutting upon the lands formerly of John Batten late of Bristow sometime called the Fox and Goose on the east part, the lands late of Mr Theophilus Dyer late in the tenure of James Barlett and now of George Young or his tenant on the west part, the lands late of Richard Jervoise [Jervaise] esquire commonly called the 'Gray Fryers' on the south part and the said street or King's highway on the north part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was 20s to be paid at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of R Price and [E B] Cotton. There are pencil annotations updating the names.
