Description
Counterpart of indenture made between the reverend William Coxe Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and James Sutton of New Sarum Esquire of the other part. The said William Coxe and the Dean and Chapter grant unto the said James Sutton their tenement and garden belonging to it in New Sarum in a street there called Tanners Street formerly in the tenure of James Bartlett, Uriah Hunt and Elizabeth Young spinster containing in breadth on the north and south sides 36ft and in length on the east and west sides 176.5ft, abutting upon the lands formerly of John Batten late of Bristow sometime called the Fox and Goose on the east part, the lands late of Mr Theophilus Dyer late in the tenure of James Bartlett and now of Edward Baker esquire on the west part, the lands late of Richard Jervoise [Jervais] esquire commonly called the 'Gray Fryers' on the south part and the said street or King's highway on the north part. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was 20s to be paid at the four usual terms of the year. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of William Hayward.
