Description
Counterpart of indenture made between the reverend Charles Moss Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and Thomas Martin of New Sarum Weaver of the other part. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Thomas Martin a messuage or tenement and garden belonging to it with the appurtenances heretofore in the tenure of Rebecca Fr[ee]ke and also a messuage or tenement, outhouse and garden with the appurtenances containing in length from north to south 130ft and in breadth against New Street 12ft 6 inches and at the south end next to the Ditch 26ft, heretofore in the tenure of James Smith. The premises are in New Sarum in a certain street or place there called New Street and bounded on the west with the lands of the Mayor and Commonalty, on the north with New Street, on the east with the lands heretofore of Richard Roberts and on the south with the Close wall and Ditch. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was £3 to be paid at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions, and also 1s 3d for quit rent at the Feast of St Michael the Archangel. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of Edmund Roberts. 'Renewable 9[th] Aug[ust] 1804.'
