Description
Counterpart of indenture made between the reverend Robert Price Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part, and William Hibberd of West Harnham in the county of Wiltshire Gentleman of the other part. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said William Hibberd a messuage or tenement with the houses and buildings belonging to it called or known by the sign of the vine in New Sarum in a certain place there called the Marketplace bounded on the east with the Marketplace, on the west with the river, on the north with the lands now or late of Samuel Eyre esquire on the south with the lands of the Mayor and Commonalty. The said premises were lately in the possession of William Corbin as undertenant and now in the possession of William Hibberd. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was £10 at the four usual feasts of the year in equal portions. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of Edmund Roberts. There are pencil annotations on the lease. 'Renewable 5 April 1807.'
