Description
Counterpart of indenture made between the reverend William Fisher Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and John Williamson of Poole Gentleman and Henry Young of New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire Gentleman of the other part. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said John Williamson and Henry Young a messuage or tenement with the houses and buildings belonging to it called or known by the sign of the vine in New Sarum in a certain place there called Marketplace, bounded on the east by the Marketplace, on the west with the river, on the north with the land formerly of Samuel Eyre esquire and since of George Short deceased and on the south with the church yard of the parish of St Thomas. The said premises were late in the occupation of George Short the Younger and have recently been converted into several messuages and shops delineated in the plan on the back of these presents. These hereditaments and premises are now in the hands of the Warden and Dean and Chapter by reason of the forfeiture of a former lease of the same granted to George Smith deceased dated 5 Oct 1841. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was £10 to be paid at the two usual feasts of the year in equal portions. Signed, sealed and delivered by John Williamson in the presence of J R Justican Bookseller in Poole, and by Henry Young in the presence of [. .] Cooper Solicitor in Salisbury.
