Description

Counterpart of indenture made between Eldon Surtees Bankes Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and Stephen Absalom Curtis, William Sam Curtis and Albert James Curtis of Number 28 the Marketplace in New Sarum in the county of Wiltshire plumbers, painters and glaziers trading as A Curtis and Sons of the other part. The Master and Dean and Chapter grant unto Stephen Absalom Curtis, William Sam Curtis and Albert James Curtis a messuage or tenement with the houses and buildings belonging to it formerly called or known by the sign of 'The Vine' in New Sarum in a certain place there called the Marketplace, bounded on the east with the Marketplace, on the west with the parochial schools belonging to the parish of St Thomas, on the north by the road or passage between the said messuage and the house and premises belonging to the trustees of the Salisbury Savings Bank and now of Miss Amy Waters and on the south with the churchyard of the Parish of St Thomas. The premises were formerly converted into several messuages and shops delineated in the plan drawn upon these presents. Together with the right of way and other appurtenances. To have and to hold for 7 years from 05 Oct 1909. The annual rent was £105 by two equal half yearly payments on 05 Apr and 05 Oct. Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of William Carter surveyor. There is a memorandum on the back about the stone clock and match boarding.
