Description

Indenture made between the reverend William Coxe Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and Henry Jeffrey of New Sarum in the County of Wiltshire Druggist of the other part. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Henry Jeffey a messuage or tenement with the houses and buildings belonging to it formerly called or known by the sign of the vine in New Sarum in a certain place there called the Marketplace bounded on the east with the Marketplace, on the west with the river, on the north with the lands late of Samuel Eyre esquire deceased and now of George Short and on the south with the lands of the Mayor and Commonalty. The said premises are now in the occupation of Henry Jeffrey. To have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was £10 to be paid at the four usual feasts of the year in equal portions. Sealed and delivered by William Coxe being first stamped in the presence of Edward Coxe. 'H W [...]ings Office in Saint Annes Street Salisbury June 20. 1817. Exhibited to us under a Commission of Bankrupt against Henry Jeffrey' was written on the back, signed by J[ohn] Swayne, John Hersey and [....] Bu[tt].
