Description
The top left corner of the document is missing. Indenture made between George Carewe [Carew] Canon Residentiary and Warden or Governor of the queresters [Choristers] and the Dean [and Chapter] of the one part and John Chapman also called John Hytchecocke [Hitchcock] of Preschute [Preshute] in the county of Wiltshire husbandman [husbandman] of the other part. The said George Carew and the Dean and Chapter grant unto the said John Chapman the parsonage of Preshute with all manner of glebe lands, [leasures], pastures, meadows, oblations, tithes, emoluments and profits [with] the appurtenances (the p[resen]tation of the vicarage there when and as often it shall be void; tithes, oblations and all other profits to the Chapel of St Martyns [Martin] and Newlande [Newland] in the parish of Preshute in any wise belonging; and also a close of pasture containing by estimation three quarters of an acre between one close in the tenure of Robert Collerne on the north part and Preshute Lane on the south part excepted). To have and to hold for 70 years. The annual rent was £23 to the said Master and Dean and Chapter and also £13 6s 8d to the vicar of Preshute at the four usual terms of the year in equal portions.
