Description
Letter of attorney from Thomas Barford Clerk and Warden or Governor of the Choristers of Salisbury Cathedral and the Dean and Chapter. Thomas Hyde late Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean ad Chapter by an indenture of lease dated 16 Aug 1662 demised, granted and let unto William Hitchcocks [Hitchcock] of Preshute in the county of Wiltshire gent the parsonage of Preshute with the appurtenances to have and to hold for and during the term of 3 lives at the annual rent of £125 at the 4 feasts of the year by equal portions. The said Warden and Dean and Chapter have made George Frome of New Sarum gent and Christopher London of the Close clerk their attorneys to demand and receive the sum of £93 15s which was due at the feast of the Nativity next. Signed and sealed in the presence of Jo[hn] Jesse, William Jesse and [T] Bow[les]. There is a memorandum on the back stating that no rent was paid on 25 Dec 1691, signed by Charles Soper and George Frome [junior]. The rent was to be demanded again on 25 Jan.
