Description
Abstract of assignment of the parsonage of Preshute. By indenture between Anna Compton of East Choldrington [Cholderton] in the parish of Amport in the county of Southampton of the one part and [John] Clark of Greenham in the parish of Thatcham in the county of Berkshire carrier of the other part reciting an indenture of lease dated 10 Apr 1767 from Robert Sherard the Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter owners and proprietors of the parsonage of Preshute in the county of Wiltshire to the said Anna Compton of all that their mansion or parsonage house commonly called or known by the name of the Parsonage House of Preshute with the houses, edifices, buildings, barns, stables, outhouses courts, yards, backsides, curtilages, orchards and gardens and other appurtenances belonging to it and also their meadows, pastures, arable lands, commons and common of pasture and all other glebe lands whatsoever belonging to the parsonage with all ways, paths and passages, and profits. Also tithes from the hamlet of Manton in the parish of Preshute. To hold for 20 years under the yearly rent of £50. The said John Clark had for the sum of £2839.10 agreed with Anna Compton for the absolute purchase of the premises for the [remainder] of the said term. It was then witnessed that for the said sum of £2830.10 paid by John Clark to Anna Compton the mansion, appurtenances and premises were transferred for 21 years.
