Description
Counterpart of indenture (CO/CH/5/1/33/13) made between Nathanael [Nathaniel] Hume Clerk and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter owners and proprietors of the parsonage of Preshute in the county of Wiltshire of the one part and John Clarke [Clark] of Newbury in the county of Berkshire Linen Draper of the other part. The said Master and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said John Clark their mansion or parsonage house commonly called the Parsonage House of Preshute together with the houses, edifices, buildings, barns, stables, outhouses, courts, yards, backsides, curtilages, orchards and gardens with the appurtenances belonging to it, and also meadows, pastures, arable lands, commons, common of pasture and all other glebe lands whatsoever together with all manner of ways, paths and passages, and profits. Except one ground or close of land called Gods Croft [Godscroft]. Also tithes from the hamlet of Manton in the parish of Preshute. To have and to hold for 21 years. The annual rent was £50 to be paid at the four usual feasts of the year in equal portions. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of [Joseph] Elderton and Edward Joy[e].
