Description
Surrender from William Clark of Greenham in the parish of Thatcham in the county of Berkshire gentleman and Thomas Clark of Preshute in the county of Wiltshire gentleman two of the sons and joint executors named in the last will and testament of John Clark late of Preshute gentleman deceased and John Clark of Newbury in Berkshire linen draper another son of the said John Clark deceased. By indenture of lease dated 10 Apr 1767 made between Robert Sherard Clerk and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter owners and proprietors of the parsonage of Preshute of the one part and Anna Compton of East Choldrington [Cholderton] in the parish of Amport in the county of Southampton widow of the other part the said Master and Dean and Chapter granted unto the said Anna Compton their mansion or parsonage house commonly called the Parsonage House of Preshute with its premises and appurtenances to hold for 21 years paying the annual rent of £50. Under the last will and testament of John Clark the said John Clark his son became entitled to the right and interest of the said testator in the said leasehold premises and the said recited lease thereof for the remainder of the said term and William Clark and Thomas Clark the executors have assented thereto and to John Clark the son's taking a renewed lease of the said premises for the term of 21 years. The said John Clark the son, William Clark and Thomas Clark in consideration of 5s paid by Nathanael [Nathaniel] Hume Clerk and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter have surrendered the Parsonage House of Preshute with its premises and appurtenances together with the indenture of lease. To the intent and purpose that a new lease of the premises may be made and granted to John Clark the son for the term of 21 years. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of Jos[eph] Elderton and Edward Joye.
