Description
Indenture made between William Fisher Clerk and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter owners and proprietors of the parsonage of Preshute in the county of Wiltshire of the first part and Thomas Baverstock Merriman of Marlborough gentleman and William Clark Merriman of the same place gentleman the trustees and executors named and appointed in and by the last will and testament of John Withers Clark late of Preshute esquire deceased of the second part and David Pierce Maurice of Marlborough surgeon of the third part. The said Master and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Thomas Baverstock Merriman and William Clark Merriman first their mansion or parsonage house commonly called the Parsonage House of Preshute together with the houses, edifices, buildings, barns, stables, outhouses, courts, yards, backsides, curtilages, orchards and gardens with the appurtenances belonging to it, and also meadows, pastures, arable lands, commons, common of pasture and all other glebe lands whatsoever together with all manner of ways, paths and passages, and profits. Except one ground or close of land called Gods Croft [Godscroft] and tithes and rent charges not set forth in the schedule. Also timber trees and other trees likely to become timber during the said term. Secondly tithes and rent charges set forth in the schedule. To have and to hold for 21 years. The annual rent was £16 13s 4d at the four usual feasts of the year in equal portions and in respect of the tithes the annual rent of £33 6s 8d. A schedule follows the indenture. Signed, sealed and delivered by William Fisher in the presence of Arthur Parnell Poulshot of Wiltshire.
