Description
Indenture made between Francis Eyre Clerk, Canon Residentiary and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and John Greenland of Marlborough in the county of Wiltshire yeoman. The said Master and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said John Greenland their portion of tithes from the hamlet or tithing of Elcott within the parish of Preshute formerly in the use and occupation of John Greenland and lately in the tenure of Walter Shropshire lately deceased together with the appurtenances. To have and to hold for 7 years. The annual rent was £47 at the two feasts of the year in equal portions. Signed, sealed and delivered being first lawfully stamped with sixpenny stamps in the presence of Richard Webb and George Frome. There is a note on the back which states, 'Mem[orandum] the Subcom[?] seal fee is paid.'
