Description

Indenture made between Robert Sherard Clerk and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and John Kite of Tilshed or Tilshead in the county of Wiltshire yeoman of the other part. The said Master and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said John Kite their cottage and tenement and ground in Tilshead bounded on the east with the farm called the Choristers Farm, on the south by the Street, on the west by a tenement of John Payne, on the north by Farmer Wadham's orchard containing about 16 lugg of ground with the appurtenances which premises are now in the possession of John Kite. To have and to hold for and during the natural lives of John Kite, Lawrence Kite his brother and John Kite the Younger his son and for and during the natural life of the longest liver of them. The annual rent was 2s on the Feast of St Michael. Sealed and delivered by Robert Sherard, being first stamped, in the presence of John Reeks and Thomas Frome. There are pencil annotations on the document.
