Description

Indenture made between Charles Moss Clerk, Canon Residentiary [and Master Warden or Governor of the Choristers] and the Dean and Chapter of the one part and Anthony Smith of Tilshed or Tilshead in the county of Wiltshire shepherd eldest son and heir of Anthony Smith deceased of the other part. The said Master and Dean and Chapter grant unto the said Anthony Smith their cottage or tenement with the appurtenances in Tilshead sometime since in the possession of Samuel Kite and now in the possession of the said Anthony Smith. To have and to hold for and during the lives of Anthony Smith aged 50, William Smith aged 17 son of Anthony Smith and George Kite aged 16 son of John Kite and for and during the natural life of the longest liver of them. The annual rent was 3s on the Feast of St Michael. Sealed and delivered, being first stamped, in the presence of B Cotton and R Price. There are pencil annotations on the document. There is a memo on the back stating that William Cooper delivered seisin and possession to Anthony Smith.
