John Talman's Book of Accounts

Account book of Reverend John Talman of the Vicars Choral. It contains various accounts dating from 1758 to c1776. There are also details of Talman's career at the back, a list of 'The Particulars of Broadwinsor 1665,' and a copy of a terrier of Durnford dated 1634. The front and back of the volume are marked 'Book of Acco[unt]s' with dates. The spine is faded but appears to have '30 1/6 Broad Windsor [?] Talman' written on it. The following is copied from the Accession Register: 'Was originally amongst the Vicars Choral muniments. Was removed from there by Mr. Dorling, "schoolmaster." who took it with him when he moved from Salisbury in 1900. He gave it to Dora Robertson who thought "perhaps [it] can go to the library, where it will be more accessible." Was found on Cathedral library shelves and is now returned to the Vicars Choral muniments.' For more information on the custodial history of the volume, see the Depositors file under Dora Robertson.
