Description

Letters patent of Edward IV, granting pardon to the Vicars Choral for whatever transgressions or offences which they may have committed before 4 November last, and also all fines, taxes, actions, etc., due or pending before 5 March last. There is a long provision that none of this shall apply to certain (named) people, nor to any rebels against the king or adherents of Henry 'de facto' nor to any of the king's great accountants (Treasurer of Calais, Chamberlain of Chester, and others named). Given at Westminster, 20 Oct, in the 2nd year of his reign. The paper catalogue states that this document was one of three to be handed to the Magister Munimentorum on behalf of the Vicars Choral by their Procurator in 1935. See CO/VC/4/6/5.
