Description

From S[imon de Micham] Dean of Salisbury to William de Wycu[m]b [Wycombe] vicar in the church of Salisbury, ordering him to cause William de Ripar[?iis] canon to pay 40s to the perpetual vicars of Salisbury [?in the name of his Procurator] due from Johanna Abbess of Shaftesbury, which amount was accustomed to be paid by those who received the gift of benediction from the Bishop in his diocese and which he [William de Ripario] had agreed to pay for the Abbess before the feast of St Valentine. If he did not do this, he would be cited to appear before the Dean in Chapter on the judicial day after the feast of St Gregory the Pope to answer about the 40 shillings. William de Wycombe is also ordered to inform the Dean on the same day and in the same place about how he has executed this mandate. Given at Salisbury 3 kalends of February 1290 [30 January 1291].
