Description

Edward Hull and Thomas Naish, "two of the Vicars Chorall of the Cathedral Church of Sarum" petition the Dean and Chapter in relation to the behaviour of the Procurator of the Vicars Choral: the Procurator "doth assume Power & Authority" by which he has assigned Benjamin [Witear?] to be "Vicar unto the Chamber notwithstanding he was Vicar to the Lord Bishop before & still continueth so to be"; the Procurator "Stoppeth the Money Due to us for our Dividend" in a manner "which your Petitioners thinks is Contrary to the Laws of this Realm & the Laudable Customs of this Church"; the Procurator "& the Rest of the Vicars Chorall Endeavour to force us your Petitioners to Pay the Equall Share with them" of a lawsuit "Commenced and Carried on by them before your Petitioners were Vicars for a Debt which if it had been Recovered by Law your Petitioners should have no share of it". The Petitioners "humbly Prayeth your Worshipps Candid Consideration of the Premises and such Reliefs as to your Worshipps shall seem Convenient, or to put us in a Capacity to Relieve our Selves".
