Description

Lease between the Procurator and Commonalty of the Vicars of the Cathedral Church on the one part and William Batt the younger on the other. The Procurator and Commonalty of Vicars lease to the said Batt the messuage or tenement with the appurtenances together with gardens or garden plot adjoining, being within the Close and abutting on the King's highway within the Close which leads towards the said Church ('abutteth on the Kings High Way within the said Close which leadeth towards the said Church at the South End thereof and upon the Walls of the said Close at the North End thereof'), to have and to hold for forty years. The yearly rent was 20 shillings at the 4 feasts of the year. The item is marked 'In the Close. No 14' (in red ink).
