Description
Counterpart of a lease between the Procurator and Commonalty of Vicars of the Cathedral Church of Sarum on the one part and the Reverend George Lewes Benson of the Close of Sarum Clerk on the other part. The Procurator and Commonalty of Vicars lease to the said George Lewes Benson the messuage or tenement with the gardens and appurtenances within the Close of the Canons fronting on the south to the King's highway within the Close which leads westward towards the Church and abutting on the north upon the walls of the Close to have and to hold for forty years. The annual rent was 20 shillings with the further yearly sum of 3 pounds and 4 shillings of land tax to be paid at the 4 feasts of the year. Signed, sealed and delivered by the within named George Lewes Benson in the presence of Charles [..] Radcliffe.
