Description
Counterpart of the lease between the Procurator and Commonalty of Vicars of the Cathedral Church of Sarum and William Batt. The Procurator and Commonalty of Vicars lease to the said William Batt the messuage or tenement with the gardens and appurtenances in the Close, fronting on the South to the King's highway which leads westward towards the Church and abutting on the north upon the walls of the Close to have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was 20 shillings to be paid at the 4 feasts of the year. This was 'Sealed and delivered the parchment being first duly stampt in the presence of Hen[ry] Stephens W[illiam] Winch.' It was previously enclosed within CO/VC/4/3/1/2. The item is marked 'In the Close. No 14' (in red ink).
