Description

Lease between the Procurator and Commonalty of Vicars of the Cathedral Church of Sarum on the one part and the Reverend George Lewes Benson of the Close on the other part. The Procurator and Commonalty of Vicars lease to the said George Lewes Benson their messuage or tenement and garden plot within the Close bounded on the east by a tenement in the occupation of James Thomas Biddlecombe one of the lay vicars and the highway on the south part together with all edifices, buildings, courts, yards, ways, waters, passages, commodities, advantages, [en]closures and appurtenances, to have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was 14 shillings in addition to 2 pounds for land tax at the 4 feasts of the year. A letter to Mrs Purvis was found in the lease - CO/VC/4/3/16/3.
