Description

Indenture made between William Henry Lipscomb of Wyke near Winchester and Richard Munkhouse Wilson of Salisbury on the one part and Frances Stevens of Haslemere in the county of Surrey widow on the other part. It refers to the indenture of lease dated 28 Oct 1856 (CO/VC/4/3/16/2) for a messuage and garden bounded on the east with a tenement in the occupation of James Thomas Biddlecombe and the highway on the south part. It states that George Lewes Benson bequeathed in his will dated 11 Sep 1858 to his daughter Sarah Anne Benson his leasehold dwelling house, and he died on 24 Nov 1862. Sarah Anne Benson in her will dated 13 May 1863 bequeathed the same to her brother Edmund George Benson and she died on 6 November 1864. An indenture dated 31 January 1865 was made between Edmund George Benson, Fitzherbert Macdonald, Charles Dew and Mary Richardson, and the indenture of lease became vested in Mary Richardson, who in her will dated 4 Aug 1866 appointed William Henry Lipscomb and Richard Munkhouse Wilson as her executors, and she died on 5 Aug 1866. William Henry Lipscomb and Richard Munkhouse Wilson have agreed with Frances Stevens for the sale to her of the premises at the price of £725. This indenture witnesses that Lipscomb and Wilson assign to Frances Stevens the said premises to have and to hold for the remainder of the term of 40 years. Signed and sealed by William H Lipscomb, R M Wilson and Frances Stevens. The witnesses were George Alfred Miller of Winchester, Ann Chubb Fordingbridge and Thomas [?Tylee] Wilson's clerk. '541' is written on the bottom of the document.
