Description

Counterpart of a lease between the Procurator and Commonalty of Vicars of the Cathedral Church of Sarum on the one part and Peregrine Bingham of Gordon Square in the County of Middlesex on the other part. The Procurator and Commonalty of Vicars lease to the said Peregrine Bingham their messuage or tenement within the Close of the Canons, having on the south part the highway or green and the Close wall on the north part together with all houses, tenements, gardens, backsides and other appurtenances, to have and to hold for 40 years. The annual rent was 8 shillings payable at the 4 feasts of the year, in addition to the yearly sum of 3 pounds 4 shillings for land tax. There is a coloured plan on the lease. Signed, sealed and delivered by Peregrine Bingham in the presence of H W Willis, chief [usher] at the Police Courts Marlborough Street. 'In the Close No 1' is written on the item.
