Description
An account of the case by Sergeant Maynard. A house was possessed by Edward Tucker, and when he died his grand-daughter, Mrs Paine, built an additional building. The house was given to George Low [Lowe], a lay singing man, but the new part was granted to Mrs Paine for 14 years by the consent of the Bishop, Dean and Chapter, and George Lowe. It was decided that after the 14 years the premises should not be demised any more but remain for a lay singing man's habitation. After 11 years the Vicars Choral granted a new lease unto Mrs Paine for 40 years both of the house and the plot of ground belonging to the Fabric. The Dean and Chapter have since granted a lease of the plot of ground unto George Lowe. Maynard then sets out the evidence that the plot belongs to the Fabric and not the Vicars, and makes some other points about the case.
