Description

On 19 July 1673 in the Chapter House before Seth Bishop of Salisbury, the Dean, Thomas Lambert and Thomas Hill in the presence of William [?Prince] public notary, re the house in the Close. She [?Mrs Paine] agrees that she will deposit the lease in the hands of Thomas Mompesson and thereby surrender it. In consideration of this the Dean and Chapter promise to suspend the trial concerning the lease and tenement until some determination shall be made upon a full hearing before the Bishop. On 1 Sep 1673 in the Bishop's Palace before the Bishop, Dean, Thomas Lambert and Richard Hill in the presence of William Prince it was promised that she would reserve her interest in the business in question and dispute between the Dean and Chapter and the Vicars of this Church to the determination of Thomas Mompesson and would apply herself to him for that purpose in the presence of some of the Vicars.
