Description

Miscellaneous sermons, lectures and addresses from different periods in Dean Sydney Evans' career, mostly undated: Undated address apparently for the Commemoration of Benefactors of Marlborough College. Three undated talks on "Are we all really atheists now?" Untitled sermon delivered at St Nicholas's Church, Southampton 6 Dec 1987, with the printed programme for BBC Radio Solent's Lent Course, 1988. Two undated talks, apparently contributions to a conference on "The Gospel and the Media". A bundle of papers relating to various aspects of eucharistic theology. These appear to be lecture notes which were re-used and adapted over a number of years - marginal notes suggest between at least 1958 and 1977 - with segments being excised and inserted, such that is is not clear that the material is complete and the original order is not always apparent: A lecture on "Grace" divided into six parts A lecture on "Christian Initiation" "The Theology of Infant Baptism" (written on notepaper of King's College London at St Boniface College, Warmnster, so possibly dating from 1948-1956). The Creator, the Creation and the Sacraments. The Eucharistic Presence. The Anglican Criticism of Transubstantiation. A copy of an article, "Eucharistic Theology and Eucharistic Origins" (Liturgical Review, Vol.IV, No.2, Nov 1974). Introduction to the Theology of the Sacraments. The Presence Communicated. Sacraments. The Sacrifice Offered.
