Description

A fragmentary gathering of originally 18 leaves. It has been severely damaged and only half survive of each of nine pages. The text of the damaged pages appears to consist of (1, 2, 3) a series of questions (and answers by various individuals) on theology, medicine, natural philosophy, and moral philosophy - as discussed at Oxford in the presence of King James in 1605 (4) a fragment of a letter in English from J Carpenter to Dr Gordon (5) King James' valedictory speech when he had presided as moderator at the final academic exercise in August 1605 (6) a list of the 10 questions proposed in the first part of the document (undamaged). Accompanied by notes by Canon Christopher Wordsworth.
